Advanced Piezoelectric Ceramics and Composites for Use in Ultrasonic Transducers and Custom Arrays
Piezo Technologies Engineering Group Mission is to develop leading-edge piezoelectric-based technical solutions for the improvement of the quality of life worldwide. This approach allows the manufacturing division to remain focused solely on manufacturing issues, including quality, and productivity.
The Engineering Group will develop comprehensive solutions for customer-focused or market-driven needs. These include:
- Single Element Transducers / Sensors
- Materials Development
- Contract Manufacturing / Assembly
- Systems Development
A full range of capabilities and resources allows Piezo Technologies to meet the needs of customers and advance the industry.
Capabilities include:
- Spray Drying
- Tape Casting
- Sonic Mill Machining
- Tight Tolerance Surface Grinding
- Dicing Saws (cuts to 12 microns)
- Laser Vibrometer Testing
- Sputtering
- Parylene Coating
- Fluorinert Poling
- Plasma Etching
- High Power Microscope
- Micro-Assembly
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protected Assembly
- Thermal Stress Testing
- 3-D Computer Measurement Machine (CMM)
To accomplish its goals, the Engineering Group added several industry leading professionals to its staff, and made significant investments in new equipment and technology. A significant investment was the Materials Lab.
The Engineering Group Materials Lab is equipped to design and manufacture prototypes and small production volumes of ceramics and composites. This lab was instrumental in Piezo Technologies being awarded a significant grant from the Indiana 21st Century Research Fund to develop new high temperature ceramics.
Our Materials Lab facilities include:
Spray Drying Capabilities. This process allows the production of low porosity, fine grain materials. Materials can be diced finer, improving their performance characteristics.
Tape Casting System. This system produces higher frequency materials at a lower cost, and allows for grain orientation, improving the material's performance.
